EBMA – electrical backup mechanical actuator

Hispano-Suiza is in charge of the electrical drivetrain for the EBMA, an assembly developed by Messier-Bugatti which handles backup opening and closing of the landing gear doors on the A400M military transport aircraft.

In normal mode, these doors are hydraulically actuated, but they also integrate an electro-mechanical backup system, to ensure full function availability under any circumstances.
The drivetrain provided by Hispano-Suiza comprises an electric motor control unit (EMCU) and a reduction gearbox assembly (GBA).
