Banc Copper Bird®

Copper Bird® (Characterization & Optimization of Power Plant and Equipment Rig) is a modular test rig dedicated to the development and testing of electrical networks for aircraft and integrated propulsion systems (engine and nacelle).

Developed within the scope of the European research program POA (Power Optimized Aircraft), the Copper Bird test rig can be used by the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers. It is designed to validate the integration of electrical systems and equipment, the quality of the energy produced, and the stability of the network, as well as demonstrating the maturity of technologies and systems for “more electric” aircraft.

Copper Bird is located at Hispano-Suiza’s plant in Colombes, near Paris. It has already been chosen for use in Clean Sky, a Joint Technology Initiative launched by the European Commission and industry, which aims to limit the environmental impact of air transport.
