Mature military engines: Technical and logistic support for mature engines
As an equipment supplier for the “mature” military engines made by Snecma, Hispano-Suiza provides support services for the power transmissions and hydromechanical equipment on the M53, Atar, Larzac and Tyne engines.
TYNE
The Tyne turboprop, in service since 1964, is produced in partnership by Snecma, MTU Aero Engines and Rolls-Royce. It powers the Transall C-160 tactical transport and Atlantique ATR2 maritime surveillance aircraft. Through a contract signed with Snecma, Hispano-Suiza will provide maintenance services for the accessory gearbox on the ATL2 until 2025.
We also produced the propeller reduction gearbox on the Tyne engine, and still supply various spare parts (gears). This reduction gearbox is still widely recognized today for its compact design and high power, coupled with excellent reliability.
M53
Hispano-Suiza’s equipment on the M53 fighter engine has now logged more than 1.5 million flight hours since entering service in 1984. We supply the accessory gearbox, main hydromechanical control unit, afterburner hydromechanical control unit and afterburner pump.
The latest model of this engine, the M53-P2, powers the multirole fighters Mirage 2000-5 and 2000-9.
We make spare parts for the entire power transmission system.
ATAR
The Atar engine powers the Dassault Aviation Mirage 3, Mirage 4, Super Etendard, Mirage F1 and F50. With more than 1,000 engines delivered, these aircraft will remain in service until 2017 with the French air force, and even longer with other air forces. Hispano-Suiza is responsible for the engine’s power transmission, including production of spare parts.
LARZAC
The Larzac engine powers the Franco-German Alpha Jet trainer (Dassault/Dornier). More than 1,000 were produced. Hispano-Suiza produces spare parts for the engine’s power transmission.
